Head Chair

Ji Hoon Lee

Great to see privileged delegates, Student Officers, Directors, and respective Guests,   I’m Jihoon Lee, your Head Chair of the Security Council of this KISMUN 2021 and it is a great pleasure of mine to serve wonderful delegates in this year’s MUN.
This year KISMUN will be the last MUN in my career, which started in 2017. To summarize my first MUN in some words, I would pick nervousness and fear. As the word represents, I was too nervous and feared to make POIs and speeches in front of other people. The question “Can I make constructive POIs and good speech that is recognized by people?” captivated my head.
However, the answer to this question was not that far away. The answer was within me, and it was, “Let’s just say it and see what would happen.” After having this mental attitude, I was able to unfold my opinions throughout the entire debate and participate passionately. I experienced that the atmosphere of the debate is not heavy, preferably pleasant, and along with that, I could find myself waiting for the Chair to call my country.
Delegates, even when hardship and adversity come near, do not give up. There are many supporters who are waiting for a signal for help from you. I am, the Secretariats are, and other Student Officers and LDP members are. Even if you make mistakes and get it wrong, try it. Your mistakes and errors will be the acceleration for your growth.
Unlike previous MUNs, we are facing unprecedented circumstances. KISMUN after-school classes were held online, and still many threats exist. However, we are here to show ourselves.
Beyond your limits delegates!

Sincerely,
Jihoon Lee,
Head Chair of the Security Council, KISMUN 2021

Deputy Chair

Tae Hyun Kim

Greetings, highly honoured fellow participants of KISMUN 2021.
My name is Tae Hyun Kim and it is beyond my greatest honor to serve every one of you as the Deputy Chair of the Security Council.
“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.”
This quote from the distinguished nun and nobel peace prize winner of 1979, Mother Teresa, was what gave me inspiration when I was struggling in my past conferences.  In 2018, when I first attended KISMUN, I was discouraged that what I do for 3 days in a conference doesn’t mean a big deal. I didn’t make full advantage of my first conference, hardly speaking up.
But as I started to participate in more MUNs, and watched delegates express their ideas, I realized an important idea I was missing. What we put our efforts in MUN ‘does’ really mean something. Every POI we make, every speech we listen to, every idea we put in a resolution all have a big influence. What we do changes people’s minds, what we do makes people think about things, what we do is speaking up in front of a group of people, small amounts, but what can be a start. But it’s not only that. What we do evaluates ourselves. Our POIs, our answers, our speeches, and our time we spent on trying to write a good resolution will stay with us. It will make us develop your communication, it will give us the confidence to start speaking, and it will be the foundation of every choice we make in the future.
We are World Changers of the New Generation, and change comes from casting a stone. Don’t be afraid of your actions. Speak up, express your ideas, communicate with others, cast a stone; and enjoy what you’re doing. I want KISMUN 2021 to be a flame that will ignite your passion, a stepping stone that will guide you to harmony in diversity, and be the wings to fly “beyond your limits.” Because we can, and we will.
Thank you and have a nice 3 days.

Tae Hyun Kim
Deputy Chair of the Security Council,
KISMUN2021

CRISIS DIRECTOR 이우석 (2).png

Crisis Director

U Seok Lee

Hello Everybody, I am U Seok, and I will be your Crisis Director for Kismun 2021. This will be my 11th MUN, but my first as a student officer. I am looking forward to this experience.
Delegates, do you know the saying Rome wasn’t built in a day? It means you may not be the best at the start, but one day, you will be an unstoppable empire. So, if you are not the best at MUN, it is fine. As far as I am concerned, all of you know much more than me when I was at my first conference.
Please don’t forget to have fun. In my ten MUN experiences the only thing that lasted was the relationship I have created with my fellow delegates. Don’t be scared of the age gap. If you are scared of how the older delegates will treat you outside of MUN don’t be. You can’t be the best version of yourself when you are scared of how people will see you.
Everyone ceases every opportunity even if you think it will blow up in your face. You can’t be sure unless you try.

Best wishes,
Useok Lee
Crisis Director of KISMUN2021
