Head Chair

Da In Ha

Esteemed directors, chairs, student officers, and fellow delegates,
It is my paramount pleasure and privilege to welcome you to KISMUN 2021.
My name is Dain Ha, the Head chair of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
Retracing to the time of my first step towards MUN, which was MUN summer school 2020, I couldn’t speak out my claims properly on the podium. I made several unbelievable mistakes that my friends still mention as a joke. At the time when I made those mistakes, I thought I won’t try anymore to expand my MUN history after I attend KISMUN2020. However, participating in KISMUN 2020 has changed my mind. Surprisingly now, only a year and a half has passed since I participated in the summer school; I am serving you as the head chair of UNESCO.
Delegates, especially for those who are having your first MUN, I would like to say just give it a shot. It’s just your beginning steps, and there are innumerable routes for it. You are the one who creates directions, speeds, and distances. As you leap forward, there could be unanticipated barriers obstructing you. It’s fine to have a rest, but do not bow your head. Hope you enjoy the next three days and whenever you want to capitulate, keep in mind,
“One who wants to wear the crown, bear the crown.”

Sincerely,
Dain Ha Head Chair of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization,
KISMUN2021

Honorable delegates and student officers,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization at KISMUN2021.

My name is Yutae Jung, and I will be serving as the president of UNESCO.

To introduce myself, I have experience of 10 MUN conferences.Through experience with MUN, which were different from country to school, I could understand the nuts and bolts of MUN, including the compositions and rules, that played a significant role in becoming a well-prepared student officer.

It is true that speaking in front of a crowd is challenging, especially for delegates with little experience of MUN. However, the only requirements for our committee are confidence and passion. Do not be afraid of other delegates when debating, because they also find it difficult to speak in front of others.

Prepare yourselves for the oncoming debates and be challenged as a delegate. You will have the opportunity to meet students of diverse backgrounds and have an all-around amazing experience, both inside and outside of the committee. I look forward to meeting you all.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, I will endeavor to help you as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely,

Yutae Jung

President of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, KISMUN2021

Deputy Chair

Ju Mi Park

Hello distinguished chairs, delegates, student officers, and teachers in the house! This is Ju Mi.
I wanted to join MUN so badly in 9th grade after seeing all my friends wearing formal suits, and nice looking heels in the MUN conference. Therefore, I applied to the MUN after school classes. However, only the first day was relaxing because after that, we learned how to write resolutions, talk and act parliamentary, and be confident about our stand to convince other people to be on our side. It was pretty fun, but after a week, I became so overwhelmed because I didn’t read the news a lot before, and also didn’t need to be in a situation where I had to persuade others, so everything felt new to me. Then I started comparing myself to my friends that were very good at debating, knew a lot about what was going on around the world and society, and got compliments from everybody.
So I felt ashamed of myself. There were a lot of times I wanted to quit writing resolutions and just go on my phone and watch youtube, because that was so much easier to do. Yet, I still went out of my comfort zone, wrote a completed resolution, went out to the podium while grabbing my shirt to hide my trembling hand, made so many mistakes in the podium, and did POIs that were super long and were not memorable at all. However, I still successfully completed my after school classes and was able to join KISMUN 2020.
Delegates, I know how hard you worked to be in this conference today. No one would judge you, and it’s lovely and beautiful to make mistakes, so don’t be scared. Go out and speak like you are the main character. Enjoy!

Sincerely,
Chumi Park, Deputy chair of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization,
KISMUN2021
